30% of Buyers Pass on Homes With Climate Risks [LendingTree Report]

A recent LendingTree study found climate risk is increasingly shaping homebuying decisions nationwide.

                 
  • 30% of homeowners say they’ve decided not to buy or make an offer on a home because of hazard risk concerns
  • 62% of Gen Zers say they’ve walked away from a home over hazard risk
  • 73% of Americans want flood zone or flood risk ratings disclosed during the homebuying process
  • 63% want estimated insurance costs disclosed before buying
  • 32% say they’d choose a home with higher insurance costs in a lower-risk area over a cheaper home in a higher-risk location
