Every Team. Every Driver. Every Detail Now in Miniature

Mattel’s Hot Wheels brand has expanded its Formula 1 collection to include all ten teams and twenty drivers. Ferrari and Aston Martin complete the 2025 grid, launching globally this December. Revealed ahead of the Mexico City Grand Prix 2025 and hosted by Sergio Pérez, the news cements Hot Wheels as a leader in motorsport collectability.
Ted Wu, Mattel’s Global Head of Vehicles, said: “Fans can now experience Formula 1 in a whole new way, by collecting or playing with their favorite team and drivers.”

Why does this matter right now?

Formula 1 popularity is at an all-time high. With singles priced at $1.25 and premium models at $8, Hot Wheels brings the entire 2025 grid to fans’ hands for less than a latte. The expansion underscores Mattel’s partnership with Liberty Media, F1’s Owner, and its push into mainstream culture.

How does it compare to rivals?

Hot Wheels faces competition from Tomica and Majorette but stands apart for its blend of detail and accessibility. Premium models feature metal construction, Real Riders tires, and driver-specific helmets, features commonly seen on collector pieces at five times the price.

Who is this for, and who should skip it?

If you wake up early for qualifying and debate DRS zones at breakfast, this is for you. Collectors and families alike will love its authenticity and price. Model purists seeking museum-quality might find it basic, but the Premium Series elegantly bridges that gap.

What is the long-term significance?

This launch marks Formula 1’s broader push into mainstream retail and Mattel’s genius in turning collectability into cultural currency. Expect limited runs and digital tie-ins as Hot Wheels turns die-cast cars into modern memorabilia.

As Emily Prazer, Formula 1’s Chief Commercial Officer, noted, “Each car faithfully replicates the liveries and designs, providing fans an authentic and unique way to experience the speed, precision, and drama of Formula 1 in their own homes.”
